With my 6 year old son outgrowing his portable youth hoop and my 3 year old daughter getting ready to start playing basketball, I decided to purchase a basketball hoop that could be used for both of them and would last a long time. I researched the different basketball hoop systems from most all of the vendors (Spalding, Lifetime, Goalrilla, etc.) and decided on the Mega Slam 672 because it was very competitively priced when you factor in the extras included with the system (full size 1/2 inch thick backboard, goalpost and base padding, and adjustable between 5.5-10 feet). The basketball hoop system arrived within a week of being ordered on three wooden pallets (it's a big system). Since I can barely hammer a nail in straight, I opted to hire a professional installer for $395. (Installers are fairly hard to find, Google recreational playground installers as an alternate search term). Once installed it was solid, as aesthetically appealing as a basketball hoop can be, and both my kids enjoy playing on it because it can be lowered to different heights. The only con (if you want to call it that) is that the rim is very stiff. Not sure if it needs to be broken in, but there isn't much give to it. Otherwise, I am extremely pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend the Mega Slam Hoop System to anyone looking to invest in a professional grade basketball hoop for their home.
