Thoroughly studied Megaslam & 3 top competitors prior to purchase. Not a difficult decision to settle on Megaslam once you have all the facts. I admire the strategy - Make the best product and offer it direct to customer, cutting out the box store margin. I would imagine that if Megaslam was offered in the box stores, price gap would be too great to win over the common shopper simply because all aspects are such higher quality vs competitors & cost more to produce. I did the install myself. Be prepared for a small construction project & plan appropriately. Instructions are very well written & all hardware is packaged so that you don't have to sort during install. The hole size and amount of concrete for anchoring system are substantial. Not hard work, but I estimate 8-10 hours for 1 capable person to dig the hole, redistribute dirt from hole, mix & pour concrete, set anchor hardware, cleanup site, dispose of packaging materials, etc. I also rented auger to finish hole, as well as concrete mixer to mix & dump concrete efficiently. Once anchoring system cures, goal assembly is very easy & took only a couple hours with two people. Only other heads up is delivery is 750+ lbs on a double pallet. My delivery driver's fork truck could not handle it and he needed my help to get onto lift gate & out of truck. Once installed, playability is excellent. Backboard rock solid & in combo with pro rim provides nice shooter's bounce. Slamming has great feel. Rim as well as primary control arm have breakaway "give" features. Even with hard dunks & hanging, unit feels like it is in control, not the dunker. Raising, lowering is simple & the option to remove safety bar & lower to 5 feet for small kids is super cool. Also handle removable so the neighborhood kids can't lower when you are not around. :) Aesthetics are perfect. It looks great. I'm one of the most overly critical people I know & can not name one thing I would change about the unit, buying or install processes. Well done Megaslam. My proposal for your new slogan -- "Don't buy a basketball-goal-shaped-object. Buy a Megaslam." -Sam in TN
