Did my research about a year ago but decided at that time to hold off. I all but chose to buy the MEGA SLAM goal at that point but wasn't sure the timing was right. I really wish I pulled the trigger last year because my son missed out on a year of using this goal. I live in a subdivision and have a 3 car garage with a good sized driveway/parking area. Decided to go with the 72" goal. Did a little over 24" overhang. Still have 30 ft of shooting distance. Absolutely NO regrets. The size was right. I had an old goal to remove (which looked ridiculous compared to this thing). My 13 year old son and I did most all of the installation ourselves. Was a good father/son activity and I wanted him to appreciate the work that goes into something like this. Dug a 4 foot hole. Mixed and poured the concrete ourselves. Leveled it all. Waited a few days. Assembled the goal (had a couple people help lift the substantial backboard). Started using it immediately. My son has played team basketball since he was 5 years old. Plays on a travel team and plays for his middle school. Been on a lot of courts and has a lot of friends with hoops at their house. He says its the best goal he's ever played. His friends also agree and are quite jealous. Its been a good way to keep the youth activity at my place vs his friend's homes. At a price point that is similar to competitors, there is no way this goal comes in second place. The construction is solid. It's overkill in some places, which is perfectly fine with me. Everyone who sees it makes positive comments. The neighbors were dumbfounded. And, its an attractive unit. It actually makes the back of the house look "cleaner" than the old goal - if that makes sense. I was so impressed with it that I've talked a co-worker into buying one for his kids. He is in the process of building a new home and will have a dedicated court. I told him its a no-brainer. Delivery was fast and problem free. There was one area of damage on one of the support arms (where the Mega Slam logo goes). It was dented and the powdercoat was scratched off about 1/4 inch wide and an inch long (not sure when it happened because the packaging was not damaged). I didn't bother calling the company about it and just used the touch up paint provided to seal and protect it. There was no way my son was going to wait for the replacement arm to be sent and it wasn't that big of a deal anyway. If you force me to be critical about any feature, I would say I wish the height adjustment happened a little quicker. It takes a lot of revolutions to raise or lower it. That said, the effort to raise it is minimal (my 6 year old daughter had enough strength to raise it to 10 feet) and I understand enough engineering to know the mechanism is going to require a lot of revolutions if you want to keep the effort as minimal as possible. So, I'm not complaining at all. If you are shopping for a new goal and are looking at this level of a product, you would be crazy to consider anything else. And I would encourage self-installation if you think you have the ability. Even if it takes a little longer to get it put together, its a great way to kick off what will likely be years of fun memories.
