After doing extensive research and reading reviews, I went with the Mega Slam 660 and could not be happier. I immediately discarded the "store brands" as they were very much inferior in terms of steel used, rigidity, and lack of rust protection. I found just two other systems that were even in MS's league and both used 7 gauge steel vs. MS's superior 5 gauge and niether provided the extensive gusset system of MS. Aesthetically, MS is by far superior to everyone else...this is as close to an "arena" look as you're going to get at home. Construction-wise it's a tank. I'm 230lbs and the system barely budges on the hardest dunks and is perfectly still on missed shots...including long 3's. I've seen the store brands shake on a swished free throw, lol. Customer Service is an A+. I traded several emails with Matt and he was beyond helpful. I initially asked him to do a direct comaprision between MS and their top competition and he gave about a dozen bullet points of what MS did to make each detail of the system superior, including listing the cost difference that MS absorbs to deliver the best system on the market. Installation was fairly easy. I personally did everything solo leading up to the backboard install. For that myself and a buddy lifted it into place while my dad placed the hardware. If you watch the
install video a few times and go over the instructions, you'll find this a good DIY project. I couldn't be happier with every aspect of the 660 and look forward to many years of play.
